Corporate Work

Mobex North East also works with corporate clients in the design of team building or similar days for their staff. We can offer your larger corporate organisation a tailor made programme of problem solving and team building activities suited especially to the needs of your business and your staff team.

You decide if you want a half day or full day session. You decide the kind of activities you want and what you want the focus to be - self confidence, leadership, communication, team work - and our team of highly trained and experienced instructors will create a bespoke session of activities for you.

Reviewing is a key aspect of the work that Mobex North East carries out with all groups. Engaging with an activity and then reviewing its processes and outcomes, strengths and weaknesses, to link them back into everyday life, on a personal and professional level, is at the heart of all of our activities, especially the teambuilding/problem solving sessions that we can offer you. You decide the level of reviewing that best suits your organisation's needs and we can design your programme of activities around that.

The charges made for corporate days help to keep the cost low for youth organisations that sometimes struggle to find the funds to enable their clients to engage with Mobex North East's services.

Please give us a call on 0191 2302830 to discuss the corporate activities that Mobex North East can design for you and your organisation.

THE BIG LOTTERY FUND - PROBLEM SOLVING & TEAMBUILDING DAY AT THE GIBSIDE ESTATE

A sixty strong group of staff from The Big Lottery Fund enjoyed a day of team building and problem solving activities at the Gibside Estate in Chopwell. With beautiful mature woodland, historical listed buildings and a pond attracting different species of wildlife, this National Trust site offered a unique backdrop for the jam packed day of events delivered by the Mobex North East staff team.

Led by Mobex North East instructors, six teams of ten participants worked their way around six different problems solving activities, which were located around the grounds of the Gibside Estate. The groups came together in the afternoon to work on a final task, a refreshing new arts activity making its debut for Mobex!

Reviewing activities and discussing how principles of teamwork during the tasks could be transferred back into the workplace was high on the Big Lottery Fund's agenda for the day so Mobex North East designed the programme of events around that. At the end of each activity, time was given for review, reflection and discussion of the tasks, hows the teams engaged with the tasks both as a group and as individuals, strengths, weaknesses, successes, failures and improvements.

It was during this discussion time, and on the walks between activities, that teams were encouraged to take notes and make preparations for a two minute presentation, which would be delivered to the rest of the complete staff team at the end of the day.

All in all, everyone completed the following eight problem solving and teambuilding tasks:

Nuclear Waste - SKILLS REQUIRED - team work, effective communication, listening skills and coordination.

The Swamp - SKILLS REQUIRED- leadership, planning, team work, listening to others and effective communication.

Blind Square - SKILLS REQUIRED- communication, team work, leadership, coordination and listening.

Flash Flood - SKILLS REQUIRED- communication, time management, physical strength, logical thinking, listening skills and team work.

Reef Knot - SKILLS REQUIRED - following instructions, team work, coordination, listening to others and communication.

MOBEX NORTH EAST DEBUT - 3D Challenge - SKILLS REQUIRED - physical strength, team work, communication, leadership, logical thinking, listening to instructions and organisation.

MOBEX NORTH EAST DEBUT - Enlarge an Image - SKILLS REQUIRED - leadership, confidence, communication, listening, logical thinking, team work, time management, organisation and recognising and using people's individual strengths.

Team Building Presentations - members of each team delivered a short presentation on teamworking skills, what they had learned during the day and how they were going to transfer and relate this knowledge back to their working lives. Each presentation was well prepared, unique and entertaining - one was delivered in the style of a news report while another was presented in the form of a poem about the days events!

The day was busy and there was a lot to think about and reflect on, but it was thoroughly enjoyed by all, both participants and instructors. The reviewing techniques worked excellently with the tasks and the groups, which was highlighted in the brilliant presentations at the end of the day. The event was a a great success!

Mobex North East would like to express thanks to all at the Big Lottery Fund who met the challenges of the day head on and produced some excellent team work.

Sincere thanks also to the staff at Gibside Estate for their wonderful hospitality and delicious homemade food!

Mobex North East worked with a sixty strong staff team from Ernst and Young on a unique murder mystery/problem solving day. With views over the beautiful North East coastline, the event was set in the wonderfully picturesque grounds of Seaham Hall in Sunderland.

The four murder mystery actors began by setting the scene, giving insight into the characters and their possible motives for murder. The Ernst and Young staff team was then divided into six groups, who each had to work as a small team to complete six different problem solving challenges. On successful completion of each of the tasks, groups were given a clue to help them discover the identity of the murderer!

Working their way around six different twenty minute activities, which were spread around the extensive lawns and wooded areas, teams tackled the following problem solving tasks:

The Swamp SKILLS REQUIRED - leadership, planning, team work, listening to other and communication.

Jigsaw - SKILLS REQUIRED - communication, team work, logical thinking, planning, leadership and listening.

Blind Square - SKILLS REQUIRED - communication, team work, leadership, coordination and listening.

Reef Knot - SKILLS REQUIRED - following instructions, team work, coordination, listening to others and communication.

Spiders Web - SKILLS REQUIRED - physical strength, team work, trust, confidence, communication and leadership.

The focus of the day was to have a good time and a lot of fun as as the photographs prove, smiles and laughter were not in short supply during the whole day. And the murderer's identity was revealed to all!

Two teams worked on teambuilding challenges throughout the morning session, which tested testing their physical stamina and mental agility while focussing on group work and communication skills. The two groups then came together and faced challenges as a complete staff team.

CHARITY ABSEIL WITH THE NEWCASTLE FALCONS AT THE VERMONT HOTEL

A fun and action packed day was enjoyed by both spectators and participants when Mobex North East teamed up with the Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club and the Vermont Hotel for a day long charity abseil.

With money being raised for the Newcastle Falcons Community Foundation, which is a charitable organisation focussing on grassroot sport, social inclusion, health and education, around 50 would be abseilers faced the 180 foot journey from the roof of the Vermont on Newcastle’s Quayside. Even Flash, the Falcon’s official mascot, successfully completed the abseil!

Many of the Falcons players were present, handing out well deserved glasses of bubbly and having photographs taken with the successful abseilers.

Participants ranged from accomplished abseilers to complete novices and despite lots of nailbiting, nerves and last minute wobbles, everyone successfully completed the challenge.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

No....it's Flash, the Falcon's Mascot, enjoying the view from the roof of

the Vermont Hotel!

The first abseiler of the day!

Melanie Magee of the Newcastle Falcons Community Foundation helped organise the event and completed the project with an abseil of her own!

Before his abseil, this participant was very nervous, wondering why he had agreed to do it.

But by the end of the day, he had completed three abseils and was thinking about where he could tackle an even higher one!

Looking up at the Vermont Hotel from the ground

A fun day out for the whole family!

Flash meets a real Falcon...

Throughout the day, some people faced and conquered their fears. Others achieved a personal goal they had set themselves while a few participants got the taste for abseiling and cannot wait to try it again!

The day was a huge success and everyone involved had a thoroughly enjoyable time with many enquiring about the possibility of another similar event. Watch this space!

Mobex North East would like to extend thanks and congratulations to all the brilliant abseilers!

Thanks also to the Newcastle Falcons and the Falcons Community Foundation for organising such a great event!

We also send sincere thanks to the Vermont Hotel, whose hospitality was truly excellent!
