Mobex Northumberland
Mobex Northumberland was established to provide a mobile resource in response to a growing demand for activities within the County. Its main aim is to provide resources to groups working with young people in disadvantaged areas of Northumberland using challenging outdoor adventure and the arts to enable participants to reach their full potential.
Mobex Northumberland works with a wide range of groups across the County, providing personal development opportunities for young people and adults both young and old.
The project's flexibility is a key factor in being able to respond to the diverse needs of these groups. Programmes have been developed around simple, fun activities, team building, group communication skills and building participants self esteem and confidence. The involvement has varied from offering single day activities to progressive ongoing programmes.
In essence, Mobex Northumberland utilises informal education methods to offer a wide range of challenging activities, both outdoor adventure and arts based.
We endeavour to work within an equal opportunities framework, respecting individuals and their own adventure thresholds to help participants achieve their full potential.
MOBEX NORTH EAST - PART OF YOUR SUPPORT NETWORK
Here at Mobex North East we understand that financial constraints can often result in you and your group enjoying a one off day with us when ideally you would prefer and benefit most from a longer term programme of activities.
We are happy to visit you and your group to discuss what we can do to help support you and your objectives. We are happy to support you to put together a funding application which would enable you to work in partnership with Mobex on a particular project or long term programme.
Please give us a call on 0191 2302830 to discuss what we can do for you and your group.
OCTOBER 2007 HALF TERM ACTIVITIES SUPPORTED BY THE LOCAL NETWORK FUND
Thanks to a grant from the Local Network Fund, Mobex was able to offer 10 free activity days to groups of young people from youth organisations in the Northumberland area. The activity days were designed to explore and work towards the Every Child Matters initiative, specifically the Enjoying and Achieving outcome, which focusses on building confidence in new situations, taking into account feelings of others, leadership, celebrating achievement (personal and team) and, above all, having fun!
Groups from Hexham Youth Initiative, Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project and Gateway into the Community participated in activities ranging from climbing, mining and environmental arts. Although lots of the activities were completely new experiences for all involved, everyone got stuck in and met the challenges head on, having great fun while developing personal and social skills that can be used in everyday life.
We currently have two of these free days available! To qualify for a free day, your group must be based in the west or south west of Northumberland, be aged under 19 (or 25 for those with disabilities) and not be an existing, regular client of Mobex.

Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project at the Gibside Estate
A group of young people from Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project enjoyed a day of environmental arts activities at the Gibside Estate.
At this time of year, with autumn in full flow, there is an abundance of natural materials such as beautifully coloured leaves, acorns, ferns and twigs so the group made the most of nature's harvest and collected these natural materials for their art projects.
Using natural materials as arts materials adds a different dimension to an art activity. Natural materials can often break or not work in the way that is required, which can frustrate and hinder plans. However, this helps teach participants perseverance, initiative, creative thinking and problem solving skills, which can then be transferred into everyday life.
This young person collects interesting leaves with Arts Development Worker Nicky Sargeant...

And then creates a unique natural rosette of autumnal colours!

The whole team get involved in this art challenge!

Fulfilling your own role for the benefit a group objective is an essential ingredient for good team work!

Natural works of art!
If you think you and your group could benefit from a similar arts inspired day or a day of outdoor adventure such as mining, climbing or canoeing then please give us a call on 0191 2302830.
